Grasshopper – Industrial Garden Art
This welded metal grasshopper sculpture is built from reclaimed steel, old tools, and heavy-duty metal parts. It has a raw, industrial look with enough shape and movement to make it feel like it’s ready to jump.
I used a pipe wrench, shears, large nails, and car control arms to build the body and legs. Those parts give the sculpture a solid, rugged feel, but they also bring in a lot of natural texture. The marks, wear, and rough edges are part of what makes it interesting.
At about 20 inches tall and 16 pounds, this is not a small accent piece. It has some weight to it and works well as a statement piece in a garden, patio, yard, workshop, or industrial-style interior. It sits on a flat surface and has the kind of presence that stands out without looking too polished.
The raw steel is sealed with a clear coat to help protect the finish while keeping the natural color, patina, and texture of the metal visible. Handmade in Grain Valley, Missouri, near Kansas City, this one-of-a-kind grasshopper sculpture is built from real steel parts and made to hold attention.
